John Laing is celebrating the achievement of 100 infrastructure investments, following the financial close of the Intercity Express Programme (IEP) in July.
Following the announcement in May of the Acorn consortium as the preferred bidder, M&G Investments with SMBC and the European Investment Bank have now been appointed as preferred funders of Alder Hey’s new hospital. This follows an extensive funding competition by Acorn (John Laing, Laing O’Rourke and Interserve).
The Regenter Myatts Field North consortium comprising Regenter, Higgins Construction, Rydon Maintenance, Pinnacle PSG and E.ON has received the award for Best Scheme in Planning at the Affordable Home Ownership Awards 2012 for its work on the regeneration of Myatts Field North, Lambeth.
John Laing, as part of the SecureFuture consortium has signed a contract to build and operate the new prison at Wiri, South Auckland. The new public-private partnership (PPP) facility will be designed, financed, built, operated and maintained by the consortium on behalf of the New Zealand Department of Corrections and will focus on rehabilitation and making communities safer.

The Acorn consortium, comprising John Laing, Laing O'Rourke and Interserve, will formerly today be announced by Andrew Lansley, Secertary of State as Preferred Bidder to redevelop the Alder Hey children's hospital in Liverpool. The announcement follows approval of the project by the Department of Health and HM Treasury.

John Laing is celebrating being recognised for a Gold award by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). The Gold award will be presented at the prestigious 2012 RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on Thursday, 17 May.
