AUSTRALIAN WASTE TO ENERGY FACILITY WINS RENEWABLE ENERGY DEAL OF THE YEAR
John Laing Group plc (“John Laing”) is a responsible investor and active manager of infrastructure projects around the world. John Laing creates shareholder value through investing in sustainable greenfield infrastructure projects, and by actively managing these projects through construction and into operation.
We are delighted to announce that the East Rockingham Recycling Resource Facility project has been named Renewable Energy Waste-to-Energy deal of the year by The Asset magazine.
The award comes at a key point in the construction of the project. Piling work has begun, with the site playing host to the largest piling rig in Australia. The first concrete has also been poured on-site, and project offices are up and running, ensuring active project management as construction progresses.
“We are delighted to have won this prestigious industry award,” said Jason Pugh, General Manager, Commercial. “It’s an important and significant project; once complete, East Rockingham will have the capacity to convert up to 300,000 tonnes of waste per annum, generating renewable energy that will power around 36,000 homes in the Perth area. It will achieve a 96% diversion of residual waste from landfill and so represents an important resource for clean energy in the state of Western Australia.”
