John Laing Group plc, the international originator, active investor and manager of infrastructure projects, today announces the acquisition of 72.3% of the Kiata wind farm project in Victoria, Australia from Windlab Limited, the developer of the project.  Windlab has retained 25% of the project company’s equity, with 2.7% granted to local landowners.

The EPC contractor, maintenance provider and supplier of the wind turbines is Vestas Wind Systems. Operations and maintenance services will be provided by Windlab.

In addition to John Laing’s equity investment of A$32.6 million, the construction of the Kiata wind farm will be project financed with debt arranged by National Australia Bank.

Construction is expected to be completed during Q4 2017.

Total installed capacity for the Kiata wind farm will be approximately 30 MW from 9 Vestas V126 WTG turbines.  The hub height will be 117 metres.  The project benefits from a 10-year offtake agreement for the green certificates from the project with the Victorian Government.
